Why Me?
Exploring, Examining & Accepting the Spiritual Path
Through Life’s Most Challenging Circumstances
Have you ever wondered why someone else’s problems
and hardships have now become your burden? Whether through
illness or sudden loss, we tend to get thrust into roles such as
caregiving that we didn’t bargain for. Sometimes, we want to
yell, “Hey, I didn’t sign up for this!” This session will map
out a spiritual path toward acceptance of unexpected burdens;
ways to fend off caregiver stress; and teach attendees how to
draw on guidance from a higher power. We’ll also learn to
mentally and physically turn adversities into joyful
opportunities, and draw on our inner gifts of strength to
problem solve. This session is intended for anyone who is
overwhelmed by the daily toll of caregiving, family dynamics and
life’s stressors.

“My
Caregiver, Are You Listening?”
Respecting the Wishes of the Dependent Elderly
Intended for professional caregivers, social service providers,
physical and occupational therapists, and health care
professionals, this message is offered from research that
resulted in Cheryl Kuba’s first book, “Navigating the
Journey of Aging Parents: What Care Receivers Really Want.”
Through
this research, elderly care receivers were asked their opinions
about their own situations, and about independence, love,
accommodations, physical care, spirituality, decision-making and
dignity. The results are a fact-filled collection of first
person accounts of what it means to be elderly and dependent--on
a loved one, a friend, or a stranger. The subjects were also
very vocal about long term care facilities, and the health care
workers that run them. You’ll laugh and cry as you travel down
this road and hear their stories. Learn from the masters – the
dependent elderly. Find out what they really want when it comes
to care.

“Had I Known I Would Live this
Long,
I Would Have Taken Better Care of Myself.”
Intended for “mature audiences,” this presentation takes a look
at the humorous side of aging from the funny bone to the
bellyache. There are plenty of reasons to laugh your way into
old age. Keeping a sense of humor as you make this inevitable
passage into ‘that gray area’ is critical.
Become empowered to handle life’s transitions, and to savor
every moment so your laugh lines sparkle.

Could This Be
You?
Financing the Journey of Aging Parents without going Broke
Many older adults believe that they have budgeted well to live
into old age, but are surprised when their finances are not
keeping up with inflation and their added years. Adult children
often try to contribute to their parents’ financial burden of
care, but are also faced with their own monetary challenges. In
this presentation, options are offered regarding discount
prescription drug programs, creative financing for household
expenses, and a thorough explanation of long term care
insurance, reverse mortgages, and financing for long term care.
Audience members will walk away with a better understanding of
financial resources and ways to access additional funding for
care.
