In the summer of 2004, Cheryl, her husband Bob, and their devoted dog,
Arthur, sailed aboard their boat Quiet Island 1,100 miles from Chicago
to Canada’s North Channel and back.
During her single life, Cheryl caught eight bridal bouquets. She retired
from that sport after marrying Bob.
Cheryl took second place in a golf championship when she was a member of
a women’s golf league. There were four women in the tournament. She
retired from that sport, too.
In 1985, Cheryl and a friend won the Mike Royko Ribfest in Chicago’s
Grant Park, beating out 400 other contestants. Please don’t ask her for
the recipe.
While working in the Chicago Tribune building, Cheryl received a package
that had to be opened by the Chicago Bomb & Arson Squad.
During a Wisconsin vacation when she was eight, Cheryl and her brother
and sister, along with the Morgan kids, walked 24 miles around Lake
Geneva.
Cheryl had a surprise opportunity in meeting international ballet dancer
Mikhail Baryshnikov. He was dressed in his bathrobe.
When Cheryl was attending Western Illinois University, in Macomb, she
hosted a cable-TV talk show, “Western Union”. Her guests included
skydivers, belly dancers, and sea captains. The theme song was, ‘Western
Union.-.Dt, da Dt, Dt, dt, da Dit.’
Cheryl’s good friend Natalie drags her to a weight training class twice
a week. Natalie is 78. |
